Wow, 5 stars is for the service in this hotel. The site I booked hotel through, listed the room as Standard Single, but since I was traveling alone, I thought it was still a Standard room, based on the actual hotel's site room descriptions. Turns out, it meant Petite room, which is 80 sq ft room, with just enough space for the bed and a toilet. I went downstairs to explain that I was under impression I booked a standard size room not petite. Standard is actually much more expensive. Now the staff could've been unaccomodating, and just tell me I booked wrong type of room, and its not their direct website I booked it through, but they, specifically day manager Jenny, upgraded me to a standard room without a hassle, even moved my luggage while I was in the office. So I always appreciate and respect a great service! So 5 stars for that! Hotel itself is in great location, either tourist or business, old building, probably a 3 - 3.5 star by New York standards. Even standard room is tiny if you compare to Vegas or LA, but again by NY standards it is standard. Even luxury places here have same size rooms. Basically, as a hotel, it does the job, great location and clean enough, and good enough space. But service wins. Ill stay here again for sure, unless my budget doubles next time :-

It was mine and my boyfriend'd first trip to New York. Washington Jefferson was the best choice of the hotels we can imagine. First at all you cannot ask for a better location than this! It is in heart of Manhattan, but on the quiet street so there are no sleeping difficulties. And all the famous spots are just close by. Only few streets to Time Square, near blue and red subway station, close to theaters district, many great restaurants near by for everyone's budget. What also made our stay pleasurable was very, very friendly and helpful staff! We can't thank enough to Mrs Gosia for keeping our room so clean and fresh. Everybody made us feel so welcome. If we ever go back to New York we will definitely stay again at this hotel

Washington Jefferson Hotel is in a good location in the theatre district of Manhattan. I am a female traveller and I felt safe walking to and from the hotel in the evening. All of the reception staff are exceptionally helpful and courteous and provided good recommendations. Linens were great with fluffy towels and the cleanliness of the room and bathroom perfect, with a daily service and new towels provided. The hotel itself is a little shabby in the pubic areas. The rooms are small as to be expected in central NY. There is no refrigerator, nor tea/coffee facilities in the room although coffee is available in the lobby until around 10am and there are places to buy coffee and breakfast within 100 meters of the hotel. The hotel air-conditioning for all rooms and public areas is on one system and is set to heating in winter with no possibility of cooling in the rooms (I believe it is set to cool in summer). This is ok if you ask for a room on a higher floor as you can open the window and let in the fresh air to cool the room down, you can also turn off the air conditioner in the room. The rooms are not sound proofed, so I recommend bringing ear plugs if city/sirens and traffic noise bothers you. WIFI worked fine. Overall I had a positive stay at the WJ

Stayed a weekend at the Washington Jefferson and it was was absolutely perfect for my needs. The Room was well kept + just what I needed, the location was perfect for walking to Times Square + Broadway, and staff (Bobby, Rafi and Josh in particular) were very helpful! I Would 100% stay again and I'd reccomend others do the same
